Florida Destination Weddings
Have you considered a Florida destination wedding? Traditional weddings definitely have their place, as do destination weddings in Florida. The I dos spoken in front of a congregation teeming with all your relatives and anyone else that you ever knew in your life. A flower girl. A ring bearer. The hall decked with flowers. The bride and groom who endlessly circulate through the crowd, determine to give every guest their two minutes.
But some couples like to break away from the pack and begin their wedded life in a more romantic, exotic destination. They decide to plan a unique type of event to give themselves-and their guests-an experience to remember. Shown here are some photographs of two different destination weddings in Florida I photographed recently. One couple arrived to Southwest Florida from Sweden with family and friends the end of June for a week of vacation along with their wedding. Their destination wedding was on Marco Island which is about 50 miles south of Fort Myers. Here is a blog post showing a couple who were married at their Everglades City wedding, which is located between Fort Myers and Miami.
Marco Island is an easy drive from the Fort Myers International Airport, mostly driving on route I75. The other destination wedding was a very intimate wedding on Captiva Island. The couple from Massachusetts eloped, it was just the two of them and they also enjoyed vacation time during their destination wedding on Captiva Island.
5 reasons for a Florida destination wedding
Cost. Believe it or not, destination weddings are often less expensive than weddings at home. One main reason is that it usually cuts down on your guest list. This is a great choice for couples who feel obligated to invite a large number of people, but wouldn’t mind having a more cozy gathering. But that’s not the only place that you’ll save. Destination weddings in Florida are usually in very scenic locales, so the mountain of flowers that may feel mandatory in a windowless hotel ballroom may be overkill in an outdoor reception on the beach. If your resort is a popular wedding venue, the décor may even be included.
Ease. Father of the Bride or The Five-Year Engagement, anyone? If you’ve ever seen these films, you know how extreme wedding planning can be. Some brides relish pouring over details, carefully choosing the tiniest details. Other brides…not so much. If you’re the type who wants to have a gorgeous wedding doesn’t want to stress the small stuff, booking your destination wedding at a resort with an on-site wedding planner may be the way to go. They book weddings daily-sometimes several times a day-so they certainly know what they are doing. Of course, destination weddings don’t have to be simple either. If you want to have a very planned event, you can do that, too. It just takes a little extra effort to hand the details from afar.
Spending quality time with your guests. Sure, most people share their special day with their family and friends, but couples who have a Florida destination wedding get a whole weekend or week of unforgettable memories. Maybe you’ve dreamed of dancing with your dad at your wedding, or imagined the girl time you have with your mom and sisters as you get ready for the big day. Now think of expanding your fantasy to include destination festivities surrounding you and your fiancé. Wearing your veil on the boat when the whole gang goes out dolphin watching. Searching for shells on a white-sand beach. Getting to spend enough time with each and every one of your guests instead of rushing to cram in a few minutes per person.
Fun! Who doesn’t fee more relaxed when they’re on vacation? There’s something special about the air at the beach that makes everyday stress seem so far away. Drinking in the scenic beauty while listening to the waves roll in loosens tongues and makes laughter flow like wine.
Florida Wedding Photography. Every bride has a special glow about her and you will look gorgeous on your wedding day. Just think of how much better that beautiful moment will look with a dazzling, natural scenic backdrop. Long after your wedding cake is gone and your flowers have faded, the photographs from this special time will be there to preserve the memory of every last, precious detail. If you’ve chosen the right photographer, your joyful relationships will shine through and you’ll have the best of you and your loved ones to treasure and keep forever.
