Captiva Island Wedding

Chapel by the Sea Wedding Ceremony

Diane and Don’s wedding on Captiva Island started with a ceremony at the historic Chapel by the Sea. The ceremony was held at 4:15pm with guests arriving from various locations in Florida. Diane did not want Don to see her prior to the ceremony. So, Don arrived first with the groomsmen and stayed inside the Chapel. Meanwhile, Diane waited in the minister’s office across from the Chapel. Diane’s friend attached the boutonnieres on the men and children who were in the bridal party. This helped us to be on time for the ceremony, which was important given that sunset was just 90 minutes away. The Reverend Doug Dortch performed the ceremony after the guests enjoyed watching the wedding couples’ grandchildren walk down the aisle with the wedding rings. Photography on Captiva Island is a joy given the natural landscape settings.

Weddings on Captiva Island

I arrived at the Chapel early to view the property and look for best backgrounds for the wedding photography. The Chapel property was in perfect condition, which was unbelievable to me, given the hurricane of a year ago. The landscaping was beautiful and green. It certainly served as a great backdrop for the wedding photography. We captured pictures of the wedding couple’s children and grandchildren, family pictures and groups of friends.

Tween Waters Inn Wedding on Captiva Island

The hurricane of 2022 caused a lot of damage in the Fort Myers area. However, the Chapel by the Sea and Tween Waters Inn were the best venues for this Captiva Island wedding with absolutely no indication of the hurricane. This Captiva Island wedding couple stayed at the historic Tween Waters Inn with many of their guests also taking rooms there. After the Chapel by the Sea ceremony, we drove just a mile down Captiva Drive to the Tween Waters Inn and captured the beautiful beach and sunset.

Wedding Reception at Tween Waters Inn

After the sunset and beach photos, Don and Diane joined their guests for a cocktail hour at the Canoe and Kayak Club on the bayside of Tween Waters Inn. This casual wedding reception room overlooks the back bay of Captiva Island. The staff at Tween Waters Inn served dinner as the guests were on the outside patio. During the evening, guests watched sailboats cruising by and stars sparkling in the sky.

The picture above shows the beautiful view from the Canoe and Kayak Club wedding reception patio. Canoe and Kayak Club is just one of the restaurants at Tween Waters Inn for a wedding. After dinner the guests enjoyed delicious wedding cake. During this Captiva Island wedding, there were fireworks on the beach, so we ran out to capture some images. The fireworks were from the FISH organization which services Sanibel and Captiva Islands.
