The beach is a beautiful site for ceremonies of any size, at any time of day. The lighthouse on the southwest end is a favorite spot for sunrise wedding nuptials and the beaches to the west are ideal at sunset. For dining, the island hosts many fine restaurants with breathtaking views. Your guests can end their adventure with kayaking on the back bay waters, shopping and nightlife all on the island.
Here are more images of the family photo session I captured on a typical summer day…just minutes after we created this photo shoot at the Sanibel lighthouse, the rains began! What’s interesting is the rich saturation of colors that the storm clouds allowed.
Sanibel Island Wedding Photographer
There’s no need for fake photoshop enhancements on any part of these barrier islands. Nature provides the pure blue of the sky and ocean waves. I work with whatever the weather provides, sometimes getting the most interesting images on that gloomy day. On a rare ‘rainout’ I sometimes meet the bride and groom the next day to get the beach and sunset that we missed. Sunsets, sunrises, blue sky and silhouettes are all part of my Sanibel Island shoots.
I was the photographer of this recent Sanibel Island wedding at Casa Ybel Resort. After the wedding official pronounced this couple husband and wife on the beach, the bride and groom joined their guests on the patio of the Thistle Lodge Restaurant. (Read more: Casa Ybel Weddings). The Sundial Resort is a fun, family vacation and wedding destination. Here is a Sundial Resort wedding blog post with a ceremony on the beach. The reception was outdoors on the terrace as it overlooks the Gulf of Mexico. The sunset was terrific!
