Otter Banks Wedding

bride with bouquet at Captiva Island wedding

Brianna and Jimmy planned their Otter Banks wedding from Illinois during the summer. The October wedding included their family and friends who traveled from all across the United States. A family friend performed the ceremony along the back bay of Captiva. Before the ceremony I photographed Brianna in her beautiful gown and with  her bouquet. There was a soft wind blowing, so her very light veil flowed wonderfully for her photographs. We also created a few pictures with Brianna and her brothers and mom. I think one of the most important photos we took in the first hour was Brianna’s mom, Jill, and her 2 grandchildren! Jill’s mom was present, so this provided four generations in one family photograph. About a half hour before the ceremony, the guests began to arrive and walked to the lawn overlooking Captiva Bay.

Some information about Otter Banks

Over the years, I have photographed weddings at the Otter Banks and it was always a great experience with opportunity to create beautiful images for my clients. This year I found the landscaping to be absolutely perfect with colors and a variety of green plant tones. So, there are two homes on the property, the Otter Banks Main House is 6 bedrooms and 5 1/2 baths. The main house overlooks Captiva back bay, while the guest house is set back from Captiva Drive. In between the two homes is a swimming pool with a spacious deck area. The whole property which must be about two acres is gated and just off Captiva Drive. The interior of the main home is very light and photogenic, the wedding cakes photographed nicely in the dining room.

Brianna and Jimmy’s wedding

After they were pronounced married, Jimmy and Brianna had their first kiss as a married couple and walked towards the main house. They paused on the dance floor and were joined by all 50 guests for a wedding group picture. DJ Ron Rutz in Fort Myers provided entertainment and dancing until 10pm. The dinner and accommodations were provided by Baileys Market, a landmark store on Sanibel Island. Towards sunset, there was a beautiful rainbow towards the east…Brianna and Jimmy were so excited to see this, so we opted out of walking to the Gulf of Mexico and used our time to make more pictures of the rainbow. The Gulf of Mexico is just across the street from the guest house. Shown here are my favorite images we created at this October wedding at the Otter Banks.
