Marc and Sara’s wedding on Captiva Island
Tween Waters was the venue for Marc and Sara’s wedding. It was a beautiful afternoon in November as I began with pictures of Marc and his family. A few minutes later I walked to the bride’s room where she was finishing preparations with her sister, Greta. A ‘first look’ was planned and we had Marc outside the bridal suite waiting. Sara arrived some years ago from Italy and now they reside on the east coast of Florida. The first look provided some nice pictures with the Tween Waters colorful landscaping as a background.
The ceremony was on the south beach in front of Tween Waters. Marc and his wedding guests walked across Captiva Drive where chairs and an arch were decorating the ceremony site. Sara, her father and sister were driven by golf cart to the beach. From there, Sara walked with her dad along a winding, sea grass laden path. A family relative performed the ceremony with string music playing in the background. The Tween Waters staff served champagne and the guests enjoyed a beautiful sunset.
Tween Waters Inn is well known as a destination wedding venue on Captiva Island. Vicky and Christine are the resort staff members who provide direction so weddings flow smoothly. After sunset, Vicky drove the newlyweds in a golf cart to the Wakefield Room for their reception. The Wakefield Room overlooks the Gulf of Mexico, so when we arrived after sunset pictures, the guests were enjoying the fresh air on the outdoor balcony.
The food and beverage manager for Tween Waters and Sanibel-Captiva Beach Resorts is Laurent Bosc. Some years ago Sara worked as a chef at one of Laurent’s restaurants in France. The popular restaurant at Tween Waters is The Old Captiva House, well known for fine dining. It was a perfect coincidence that two days after Marc and Sara’s wedding, I photographed an intimate wedding on Sanibel Island. The bride and groom said they recently had dinner at the Old Captiva House. This bride commented, “The Old Captiva House Restaurant would stand up against the best restaurants in New Orleans”. Captiva Island is a lovely island for destination weddings and family vacations. For more information visit my Captiva Island Photography page.
