Fort Myers professional photographer, Frank L. Simonetti, is a wedding and portrait photographer who creates distinctive location photography. Based in Fort Myers, he has photographed destination weddings and portraits on the beaches of Florida for over twenty years.
Frank Simonetti studied photography at the Art Institute of Boston and comes from a family of photographers from Boston. The family name has been credited on professional photographs since 1946.
Frank started in the family-owned business, Henry Photo, located across from Northeastern University and the Conservatory of Music in Boston. He then worked as a news photographer for several Boston-area newspapers.
“I was a child when I saw my father, Frank and Uncle Henry photographing performers from the Boston Symphony, Boston Conservatory of Music and the graduating classes from Boston and Cambridge Universities. I know they photographed Martin Luther King at his age of around 22, my Aunt Chloe told me she was in the studio when his photograph was taken. Mr. King was with Miss Coretta Scott, who at the time was attending the Conservatory of Music. During summer vacation at ages 7, 8 and 9, I would travel daily to the Boston photography studio with my father. My self chosen assignment was really simple and fun. I had a water squirt gun and from the second floor photography studio I would hide behind the window and squirt all the customers walking into the Hayes and Bickford Cafeteria. One day the manager of the cafeteria walked out onto the sidewalk and looked up to see what was going on—yes, I got him too!”
Frank relocated to the Fort Myers area and has traveled throughout Florida as a photographer for destination weddings and portraits in many prestigious locales. He has photographed at the Vizcaya Museum, Miami; Don Cesars’, St. Petersburg; Ritz Carlton, Naples; Marriott Marco Island Resort; South Seas Island Resort, Tween Waters Inn, Captiva and most recently Moscow.
